Revision Tips: Languages!

Hey guys,

As I am in year eleven, I have recently been revising for all subjects and have come across some amazing websites and guides that could potentially help you lot! Therefore I have decided to make a revision tips series and the first one is of course languages as I take two so it has taken up a lot of my time.

  1. Focus on the right things. You have obviously done your controlled assessments in writing and speaking so you have to focus on reading and listening in your revision or you will be wasting your time!
  2. Revision workbooks. These are life savers for practising your reading and listening skills. I have the edexcel ones as that is my exam board. There are also revision guides if you want to see the different subjects that you should be revising.
  3. Learning the vocab! In the exam, it is often the amount of vocab that you know that is being tested. At the back of the revision guides previously mentioned, there is a list of vocab but if you ask your languages teacher, they probably have a copy of the list.
  4. Revise with someone! You need to get used to hearing the words as well as seeing them so if you do not want the workbook then it might help to hear someone else say the words so you get used to recognising them.
  5. Do not get confused between languages. I do this all the time! I take French and German and often I get confused so instead I do them both in different coloured cue cards and on separate days which helps me personally to remember which word is from which language.

I hope that this helped some of you!
Bonne chance!
